The NYC Preparedness & Recovery Institute (PRI) has been conducting a comprehensive review of NYC’s COVID-19 response, with a focus on a whole-of-society approach. This work has included analysis of hundreds of reports and journal articles, interviews with key individuals, and conversations with more than a hundred New Yorkers about lessons that can strengthen the city’s preparedness and response to future public health crises.
To ensure the review’s recommendations reflect the real needs of New Yorkers, PRI will soon gather feedback through Community Convenings (Nov 5-21), structured conversations designed to capture the experiences of NYC community leaders most in tune with local and neighborhood needs during the pandemic.

In partnership with the Citizens Committee for New York City, PRI is seeking small NYC-based nonprofits, community-based organizations (CBOs) (with annual budgets under $250,000), hyperlocal leaders of volunteer-based initiatives, and local businesses with fewer than ten full-time employees, to serve as Community Outreach & Recruitment Partners (CORe Partners). Selected organizations will receive up to $800 in grant funding to:
- Identify and recruit eligible participants for the Community Convenings
