Preventing COVID-19 Outbreaks in Long-Term Care Facilities Through Preemptive Testing of Residents and Staff Members – Fulton County, Georgia, March-May 2020

In Fulton County, Georgia, long-term care facilities using preemptive facility-wide COVID-19 testing had far lower infection rates than those testing after detecting a case. Early detection enabled faster implementation of infection control measures. Results showed preventive testing reduced outbreaks compared to symptom-based or reactive testing.
