End Date and Time: Tue, Dec 10, 2024, 5:30 pm ET

The NYC Pandemic Response Institute invites you to attend a session on Leveraging Diverse Data Sources for Crisis Preparedness & Response. The event will take place at The Forum at Columbia University on Tuesday, December 10th from 12:30 pm – 5:30 pm (Includes lunch and a networking session with drinks and appetizers).

Public health emergencies require rapid, informed decision-making, and leveraging diverse data sources is crucial to that process. The COVID-19 pandemic revealed both the potential and the challenges of utilizing non-traditional data sources, including issues around data privacy, interoperability, and collaboration across sectors. Join us to explore solutions to better integrate quantitative (e.g., cases, hospitalizations, vaccination rates), qualitative (e.g., interviews with healthcare workers, community feedback), and unstructured (e.g., social media/online activity, news articles) data during public health crises.

Leveraging Diverse Data Sources for Crisis Preparedness & Response is part of an ongoing series designed to bring together stakeholders from government, academia, the business, and community organizations to reflect on past data sharing practices, gaps, and partnerships during emergencies. Attendees will hear short presentations on how different sectors have utilized diverse data sources, engage in interactive discussions on expanding the use of these and other sources, and have the opportunity to highlight their data-related work during a PRI Data Sparks session at the end of the event.

By attending, you will:

  • Share your expertise in utilizing data from your sector and brainstorm strategies for increasing impact during a crisis.
  • Contribute to the development of innovative solutions for integrating non-traditional data sources into public health emergency response.
  • Learn from and partner with leading experts in the NYC data ecosystem.
  • Build cross-sector partnerships that enhance your organization’s ability to respond effectively during emergencies.

Join us as we work together to broaden awareness of the data landscape and enhance the processes and partnerships that support effective crisis preparedness and response. Space is limited, registration will end on November 30th or earlier if capacity is met.

Please note that this event is closed to the press. Please do not forward this invitation to others. If you are unable to attend or would like someone else to attend on behalf of your organization, please email us. We strive to host inclusive, accessible events that enable all individuals, including individuals with disabilities, to engage fully. PRI Data Sparks

The closing session at Leveraging Diverse Data Sources for Crisis Preparedness & Response, PRI Data Sparks, will include space for networking, drinks, and appetizers. It’s also an opportunity for attendees to present brief 3-5 minute presentations that highlight an idea, current project, or resource relevant to enhancing public health preparedness through data.

Presenters are encouraged to focus on topics where they are actively seeking input or collaborators to help advance their idea, research, resource, or program. Visual displays, such as posters, presentations, or videos may also be used. After the presentations, we encourage attendees and presenters to discuss these ideas further and share interests in potential  collaborations.

If you’re interested in presenting during the PRI Data Sparks session, please fill out this brief form by November 30th, indicating your idea and preferred presentation format. We look forward to hearing how your ideas can spark the next great advancements in data.
